SYTYCD Season 6 Coming in the Fall
By: Amanda
It is confirmed that So You Think You Can Dance will be in Fox’s Fall Schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday nights as a lead in to the show, Glee. They are currently holding auditions for the next season. You can see the details here.
As excited as I am to see Season 6 I am worried that it may diminish the magic and quality of the show. When I think of SYTYCD I think of long Summer evenings, not football season! Is it going to be too much of a good thing? Is part of the magic of SYTYCD is that it only comes on once a year? I am sure it is going to be great and I can’t wait.
What are your thoughts? Are you excited about Season 6?

Hmm… that is a tough one! I would love to see more of the show as I miss it greatly when it isn’t on and count down the days until it begins, but it may make it overkill and tune a lot of people out. Especially with football, we may be fighting for tv time and have to play catch up on the PVR.
With that being said……WooHoo more SYTYCD!!!!!!!! lol can you tell its a toss up on how I feel?
I agree, it’s a toss up for me as well. But…it won’t compete with my love of LOST (since LOST won’t be on again until January) so all is well in my world.
#
Zeynep, you and I should be friends.
Huge Lost fan here too.
I can’t wait to see Hubby’s reaction when he finds out there’s gonna be another season immediately following this summer’s.
Yes, I love this show but it will be overkill, I’m afraid. That doesn’t mean I’m not gonna watch, but I think it’ll be to the show’s detriment to followup one season with another immediate season. This happened in the early seasons of Last Comic Standing - after summer season 2, they followed up immediately with a fall season 3, and it was too much. Plus, it totally overshadowed season 2’s awesomeness.
Dawn, yay!!!! Another LOSTie!!! Did you LOVE the season finale? :-O
I’m really straddling the fence on the back to back seasons. At the end of each season I say “I wish there was more to watch!” and now, my wish is granted. I wonder if they’ll mix it up a bit so it won’t seem “too much of a good thing”?
Yes, I loved the Lost finale, it had me crying my eyes out, and I sat there stunned for at least 5 minutes afterwards. My hubby & I processed it for a few days afterward, too.
I love Sawyer and have since season 1.
I am wondering if season 6 is a result of a large amount of talent in the pool this year?? Amanda, do you know?
I am so excited! I can’t wait to see more of Sonja and Napolean’s coreography!
i think there is probably so much talent out there, that they could almost do back to back seasons forevah! that is, if the presence of more shows doesn’t translate into more of the same, but instead unfurls and moves out into different sub-genres within dance. we know there are many more talented choreographers out there….maybe the summer season could have more of a hip hop/pop emphasis, and the fall season could lean more heavily on reinterpretations of classical styles and avant-garde stuff….? that way we’d get dancing all the time, but not the same thing over and over dulling our appreciation of it.
